Kiersten Kindred Prof Headshot jpgBusiness Advancement Conference Producer, Kiersten Kindred, began her career graduating top 10% as magna cum laude of her class from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and minor in History. Once she graduated from college, she went to volunteer for the local PBS station, where she met a mentor who helped her get her first job in the industry working for one of the top production companies in Houston.

At the production company, Kiersten was a Media Coordinator/Post Production Assistant/Assistant Producer. She received a wide view of the communications, production, and marketing fields assisting with producing television commercials at the production firm. While she maintained this full time job, she also worked at the Houston Press Newspaper as a Promotions Assistant/Brand Ambassador, and Living Social as a On-Site Event Coordinator, and at the Daily Source Newspaper as an Editorial Newspaper to help her gain experience in her field quickly and to help her quickly pay off her student loans.

“I’ve never just worked one job,” said Kiersten Kindred. “Everyone thinks that it is crazy to keep that busy, but it has always felt natural to me.”

Once she left the production company, she went on to live her dream of becoming a reporter.

“When I entered into college, I wanted to be an entertainment reporter,” said Kiersten. “I would watch LaLa cover celeb stories, report on pop culture and entertainment news,” she adds. “That was always something that I was interested in and I was happy to have the opportunity to live my dream.”

Ms. Kindred became a freelance entertainment reporter for national publications, such as Life & Style Weekly, Cosmopolitan Magazine and InTouch Magazine covering red carpet events, movie premieres and interviewing some of the most talked about celebrities. Pop_Culture_ColumnSimultaneously, she worked for the Fort Bend Herald as a newspaper reporter and had her own lifestyle and entertainment column every Wednesday. She reported on community events, small businesses, local government and lifestyle. It was here that Kiersten began to work with small businesses in the community; she found herself offering communication, branding and marketing advice as she would cover the local businesses for the newspaper.

“When I would meet local businesses in the community to interview them for the newspaper, I found myself having these deeper conversations with them about their business and some of their business struggles,” said Kiersten. “Many of their business struggles came from lack of marketing, branding and overall lack of communication strategy. Once I finished interviewing them, I found myself giving them full communication and marketing plans for their business.”

Her advice to businesses spread amongst the community, and businesses began to reach out to her for her expertise in communications, marketing and branding to help them with their businesses.

Kiersten started her own full service communications and media firm, Kindred Communications, in the summer of 2013, servicing solopreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses with communications, marketing, media relations, community engagement, consulting, career services, branding and entertainment.

With the success of her business, Kiersten decided to write a book to give small businesses a comprehensive guide for marketing. In 2015, she published her first book, Five Steps to Marketing Success: A Small Business Guide.

During her writing process, she realized everything that a business needs to succeed and that is how the Business BAC Flyer 2Advancement Conference was born. She wanted to offer an environment for entrepreneurs, small to medium-sized businesses, business-oriented and career driven individuals to learn and network with one another.

“I kept looking for a conference like this when I was looking for conference to attend,” said Kiersten Kindred. “Since I could not find anything like it, I thought I should create it.”

At the conference, businesses and brands will learn how to: strategic business planning, branding, public relations, email marketing, web development, marketing, taxes and legalities, blogging, and much more!
